Aruba Certification Program Facilitates First 360 Virtual Island Tour with Bucuti & Tara Resort Team

Aruba Excellence Foundation (AEF) has adapted the Aruba Certification Program (ACP) training to provide the online sessions since the first wave of COVID-19 hit our island.

Participants are encouraged to participate in interactive online quizzes and to ask questions and share feedback during the training’s live chat sessions.

An important part of the training that has also been changed is the famous field trip. This is the island tour that is normally scheduled on the first day of training.

At the start of the pandemic, the team decided to adapt and seized the opportunity to innovate and create a 360° tour of the island in virtual reality (VR).

The Bucuti & Tara Resort team is the first accommodation to participate in the ACP 360° Virtual Island Tour, in a social distancing configuration. For them, this experience was exceptional. Most attendees expressed that they felt like they could reach out and touch the California Lighthouse or the big red anchor in San Nicolas or that they felt like they were actually sitting in the Chapel of ‘Alto Vista.

The virtual reality island tour includes 21 landmarks and important stops that might be overlooked by most when drive around the island.

The owner and general manager of Bucuti & Tara Resort, Mr. Ewald Biemans said he enjoyed the content very much and admired the initiative to create the 360° island tour in virtual reality. He also expressed that it is very important to maintain the field trip concept as part of the ACP training and strongly recommends everyone to participate in the ACP training program.

Congratulations to Bucuti & Tara Resort for taking the initiative to enroll all associates in the ACP program and being the first resort to participate in this incredible virtual reality experience.

The Aruba Excellence Foundation was established by the Aruba Tourism Authority in June 2018. This foundation is responsible for running the Aruba Certification Program (ACP) and the Happy Information Officer (HIO) Program.

The primary goal of the foundation is to continue to develop and implement ACP and HIO programs and other programs specifically designed to certify people who work in the service and hospitality industry. This is to ensure that we maintain the consistent high level of service excellence that Aruba is known for in the future.
