Traders are hard at work preparing the new Love Island villa for the 2022 series launch, our exclusive photos reveal.
The rustic Mallorca retreat seems less flashy than previous series, but still has a charm that could add to the romance on the ITV dating show.
Construction work is well underway at the six-bedroom rural property with the exterior covered in scaffolding.
The villa is located in the middle of lush greenery and at the foot of a large hill.
The former villa of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, which housed the candidates for five years, sold for the modest sum of 3 million pounds sterling.
We recently revealed that the new Love Island series will debut on Monday June 6th.
An insider said: “Love Island is coming back strong and it will start the second full week of June.
“Schedules are being worked out and fans can look forward to a long, hot summer of villa entertainment from June 6th.
“Promotional commercial filming begins in the coming weeks and commercials will begin in May.
“This series is going to be the longest running ever and it’s coming from a whole new place, so that’s very exciting.”
A Love Island spokesperson said: “It is too early to confirm the lineup for the 2022 series.”
Love Island, which debuted in June 2015, is still a huge hit and is the most popular show for 16-34 year olds.
Host Laura Whitmore is back to present the new series, having signed a £500,000 deal last month.
Insiders spoke to The Sun about her mega-money deal: There’s been plenty of speculation that Laura might step down or that other presenters have been lined up for the role.
“Laura and the show executives always hoped she would re-sign – it was just to make sure the schedules worked.
“She’s excited to get back to the villa and see what dramas unfold.”
Earlier this week, The Sun also revealed that the first contestant was being sued by Love Island bosses.
Beautician Sophie Draper, 22, dated Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash for four years before their sudden split last year and has now met ITV chiefs who believe she is the “right person” for the dating show.
A TV source said: “Sophie is a gorgeous girl who is really driven and determined to succeed.
“She has her own beauty salon and already leads a jet-setting lifestyle, which she likes to show off on Instagram, so as not to be confused by television.
“Love Island bosses think she might be a good fit for the show, it’s still early days but she definitely has potential.
“Matty will be quite shocked to see her looking for love on TV, but he’s moved on quite quickly publicly.”
