Global travel is back, and so are the jet-setters doing it in style. With that in mind, British retailer Matches Fashion is embarking on its Grand Tour Italy, a series of immersive parties and shopping events showcasing this season’s best holiday wear in he beautiful country. With stops in Rome, Florence, Naples and the Mediterranean island of Ischia, the itinerary and accompanying wardrobe are enough to make any connoisseur of fine hotels and fine fashion want to skip the next flight to The good life.

This release is actually the second part of the Grand Tour Italy Matches initiative launched in 2019 in collaboration with Marie-Louise Sciò, CEO and Creative Director of the Pellicano Hotels Group (which includes the legendary Porto Ercole getaway Il Pellicano and the seaside resort bustling Mezzatorre) and Milanese stylist Robert Rabensteiner. The duo know a thing or two about living good and looking good doing it – Sciò’s mother being a literal muse of Slim Aarons and Rabensteiner being a longtime date. The Uomo Vogue editor and one of Italy’s most esteemed aesthetes. Together, their series of cocktail parties, private art tours and pop-up shopping events are a moving feast of summery chic.

The festivities kick off in Rome on Thursday, with a pop-up shop in Piazza De’Ricci open to everyone and continuing until May 8. The Roman residence opens with a cocktail and dinner at fashion favorite Pierluigi cantina, followed by a weekend excursion to the seaside hotel La Posta Vecchia. From there, Sciò and Rabensteiner will head north to Florence for a jam-packed dance card that includes dinner at Palazzo Corsini on June 10, followed by a weekend of private art and architecture tours of the city. It all culminates in a long weekend from July 19-22, when VIP guests spend a night in Naples before heading by boat to the Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa on the idyllic island of Ischia for a weekend of shopping, socializing and lounging under the Tyrrhenian sun.

For those of us who won’t join the sybaritic excursion, Matches brings the gadabout vibe of the Riviera to all with capsule collections of women’s, men’s and home products curated by Sciò and Rabensteiner. These are the kinds of things that belong in any wardrobe for a sunny summer: hats from Nick Fouquet, baggy cotton jeans from Jil Sander, luxury suede espadrilles from Guanabana, long linen shirts from ‘Arjé, Gucci x Globe-Trotter Luggage and more.

All in all, this Grand Tour is exactly the kind of thing we’ve been missing since pre-pandemic – and precisely what we can’t wait to put on the books this summer.
