Coach Krista Gerlich and the entire Lady Raider team will hit the road on Saturday afternoon to Dallas before the first of two flights on Sunday.
On Sunday, the Lady Raiders will fly from DFW Airport to Hartfield Jackson in Atlanta. After a brief stopover in Atlanta, Tech will take off around 4:30 p.m. (CT) on Sunday for the 1 p.m. direct flight to Athens.
The Lady Raiders will land around 11:30 a.m. local time or 3:30 a.m. (CT) Monday, starting the first of five days in Athens.
Day one activities include a bike tour through Athens and a team dinner.
After a well-deserved rest, the Lady Raiders will have the opportunity to visit the Acropolis and the surrounding museum before the first of three games on Tuesday.
Wednesday marks the third day in Athens for Texas Tech and a chance for program members to explore Europe’s second-oldest city ahead of the second of three exhibition games.
Tech’s third full day in Athens brings one of the highlights of the trip, a full-day boat trip to the scenic Soronic Gulf and islands. Also known as the Gulf of Aegina, the Saronic Gulf and its surrounding islands
great beaches and shopping.
The city of Chania (Crete) is expecting the Lady Raiders on Friday, as Tech will make the approximately hour-long flight to Chania. Once settled in Chania, the tour group will embark on a walking tour of the city which will include the opportunity for shopping and dining.
It’s game day once again on Saturday (August 13) as the Lady Raiders play the third and final exhibition game on Saturday night. Before the game at 7:00 p.m. (local time)/11:00 a.m. (CT), members of the traveling party will participate in a cooking class and again have the opportunity to walk and shop in Chania.
Sunday (August 14) is the last and last full day in Chania and will once again feature a beach day, this time at the historic island and beach of Elafonisi. Known for its iconic pink sand crushed with shells, the Lady
The Raiders will have one last day at the beach.
On Monday (August 15), the members of the tour group will check out of the hotel in Chania and after lunch they will fly to Athens, where a final night in the birthplace of democracy awaits them.
The overseas tour will end on Tuesday (August 16) as the travel party will depart Athens at around 2 p.m. local time (6 a.m.) and begin the 12-plus-hour flight to the United States.
All matches will start at 7:00 p.m. local / 11:00 a.m. CT and will follow FIBA rules.
