MyRealTrip Acquires Startrip to Strengthen K-pop Themed Touring Schedules

MyRealTrip, South Korea’s leading travel platform startup, has acquired local rival travel platform startup Startrip in its second deal this year following its takeover of travel platform Donkey for children and teens to to improve its travel content business in preparation for a post-pandemic travel boom.

MyRealTrip announced the deal on Monday but did not disclose financial terms.

StarTrip provides information on places related to Korean pop stars, such as BTS music video filming locations and girl group Blackpink’s favorite restaurants. After the acquisition, MyRealTrip plans to increase the volume of information and add new languages ​​to the StarTrip service.

“We are preparing for a post-pandemic surge in tourism. More foreigners will surely come to Korea to experience K content after the pandemic,” said Lee Dong-gun, CEO of MyRealTrip.

This was the second acquisition for MyRealTrip this year. Previously, in March, it acquired IwaTrip, which operates Donkey, a family travel platform for kids and teens. MyRealTrip has also invested in O-Peace Jeju, a service provider of coworking spaces and accommodations in Jeju Island.
