Scotland on Tour returns to Lochwinnoch this summer

Scotland on Tour, the exciting initiative to support the recovery of our live music industry, will return to Lochwinnoch this summer when renowned accordionist Sandy Brechin and his band play at Lochwinnoch Golf Club on Saturday July 16, 2022.

The Sandy Brechin Band is a fast and furious quartet of exciting traditional music. Led by a Scottish accordionist, this quartet is famous for their unforgettable performances – from electrifying high-speed jigs and reels to traditional Gaelic tunes. Sandy is also an acclaimed songwriter and he will be performing some of his fantastic compositions with the band tonight, along with a fun story or two!

Sandy has toured throughout Europe and Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, USA, South America, Middle East, Africa and Asia. He is the founder and owner of his own label Brechin All Records, which boasts some of Scotland’s finest singers and musicians on its roster. As well as being a respected composer, he is also a sought-after accordion teacher and appears regularly on radio and television.

Scotland on Tour will take place over a 12 month period between April 2022 and 2023, some of the upcoming gigs to take place at Lochwinnoch include the fantastic five musician Highlands and Islands based Eabhal, returning for their fourth gig at Lochwinnoch the stunning group Orkney Fara and also their second visit to lochwinnoch the incredibly talented Breabach, A feast of the best in traditional Scottish music from these three groups.

Morag Thow, from the Lochwinnoch Arts Festival, said: “We have organized two incredible events as part of the Scotland on Tour initiative. The musicians and the public appreciated the chance to experience live music again. Don’t miss all the events that will take place until 2023!

Scotland on Tour will support the creation of hundreds of concerts and performances at popular arts centres, town halls and community venues across Scotland. More than 120 artists are scheduled to perform at more than 100 venues across the country as part of the initiative.

The project, which has been created and run by Active Events, has been made possible with support from the Scottish Government of £750,000 and will focus on increasing the number of opportunities to present and enjoy live music, while bringing exciting acts to the doorsteps of the city, towns, villages and rural communities.

The year-long Scotland on Tour bill includes both emerging and established artists with genre acts spanning the breadth and breadth of the country, with genres rock, pop, jazz, classical, folk, trad and acoustics all presented.
