Tower of Rock: Langford hair salon hosts fundraiser

A hair salon in Langford, British Columbia, is offering haircuts by donation this weekend to raise money for childhood cancer research, with donations going to Rock’s Cops For Cancer Tour.

On Sunday, September 11, Artor Gashi and his team of barbers will volunteer their time, donating haircuts to support the cause.

“I would say that if I walk past [$6,000] I will be happy,” Brothers Barbershop co-owner Artor Gashi said.

“I will be really happy. I will jump everywhere,” he said.

The 6th Annual The Brothers Barbershop, Cuts For The Kids, will be held in Langford for the very first time.

In the past it has taken place at the brothers’ small store in downtown Victoria, but the hope is that the larger space on the West Bank will create a greater opportunity to raise more money for the cause. .

“I’m going to have more staff, more chairs,” Gashi said.

“I’m going to have more than enough staff – more than chairs – because everyone from downtown, they’re all coming. So we’re going to move to the back and then work as much as we can,” said he declared. said.

For Gashi, Cuts For The Kids is about giving back. He says his family immigrated from Kosovo to Vancouver Island in the late 1990s. Since then, he says the community has shown nothing but support for his family.

“My brother, Vic, and I, it was like our dream to give it back to our community,” Gashi said.

“You know, we come from somewhere and everyone was so nice to us and welcomed us to this country, so it was like revenge,” he said. “Give it back and help as much as we can.”

Cuts For The Kids will take place at Brothers Barbershop on Goldstream Avenue in Langford this Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be light refreshments and music by Capitol City DJ.
