The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Board (SLTPB), in conjunction with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vietnam, organized a familiarization tour for a delegation of Vietnamese tour operators/agents representing 13 Vietnamese companies, including journalists.
The main purpose of their participation in this familiarization tour was to convey the message to the rest of the world and their fellow citizens that Sri Lanka is a safe and attractive destination for tourism, filled with a myriad of holiday opportunities among which Choose.
Considering the importance of attracting more tourists to Sri Lanka and making the destination better known, it was decided to introduce Sri Lanka’s tourism products to foreign consumers, giving them the opportunity to experience of a tour in Sri Lanka, with the aim of attracting more Vietnamese tourists and encouraging them to promote the destination to potential travelers as the best destination to visit during the holiday season.
In addition, travel agent familiarization tours have been identified as an important activity to invest in trade, as they are the main element of promoting the country to the community of travelers who seek advice from an agent to organize their tours. . During the familiarization visit, the delegation visited places such as Negombo, Sigiriya, Minneriya Wildlife Park, Dambulla Cave Temple, Sacred Tooth Relic Temple, Kandy, Nuwaraeliya, Ella, Galle and Colombo, March 13-19, 2022. Additionally, a B2B event was held with local DMCs and their Vietnamese counterparts, including industry stakeholders and tourism officials.
The B2B session with Sri Lankan travel agents gave Vietnamese tour operators the opportunity to engage with industry stakeholders and also the opportunity to develop new business contacts to further promote the market.
This year in 2022, tourist arrivals registered an excellent increase of 96,507 in February, where they represented a considerable change of 2,767.1 compared to 2021.
